The cynic in me screamed Goodbye Christopher Robin would be one of those typical warm and fuzzy family flicks that rely on childhood nostalgia to get by. What I found was the complete opposite: I was dragged into a sobering world of haunting memories, family drama and a bittersweet father-son dynamic.
This is more than just Pooh. It’s a multi-layered delight that will carry you through the emotional ringer with deep and engaging performances (Domnhall Gleeson and newbie Will Tilston) and a story you’d never imagine. It tells you something when Margot Robbie (her character, not performance) is probably the film’s weakest point.
Oh how I loved this.
