News: Mary Poppins, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea & Transformers

A new Mary Poppins film is in the works. Neither a sequel or a reboot, the live-action flick will be a modern version of EL Travis’ later Poppins stories. Into the Woods’ Rob Marshall is set to direct, with songwriting duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) in line to compose original songs and a new score. To celebrate his 50th birthday, X-Men: Apocalypse helmsman Bryan Singer announced his next project: a retelling of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Two new Transformers films are on the way. Akiva Goldsman is penning the fifth instalment, with star of the fourth film Mark Wahlberg and director Michael Bay (though not officially signed on yet) both expected to return.
