News: Fifty Shades Darker, Orlando Bloom & Alien 5

Fifty Shades Darker looks like it may soon have its director. James Foley – whose more recent directorial work includes House of Cards and 2007’s not-so-successful crime-thriller Perfect Stranger – appears to be the front-runner for the role after Sam Taylor-Johnson’s departure. The second instalment of the Fifty Shades franchise is set to open on 10th February 2017. (Source: Deadline)

Orlando Bloom will return as Will Turner for the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales. Bloom, who appeared in the original trilogy, did not feature in 2011’s mediocre fourth flick, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. There hasn’t been much news on Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 of late, but it still appears to be a major priority for Fox. Unconfirmed reports suggest it’ll be filmed after Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2, which is reportedly set to start production in early 2016. Alien fans might have awhile to wait yet, but it appears the fifth instalment will still happen. (Source: Empire)
